AIONSEC was born from a question I couldn't answer...
with the arrival of AI and agents, where is our field heading?
I've been using LLMs since the week ChatGPT launched — as a fan and as a critic. Three years of daily use gives you an honest feel for a technology: its wonders, its weirdness, and its warts. And for most of that time, I thought of it as a useful tool, nothing more.
Then, toward the end of 2025, something changed...
It started with the newest generation of agentic tools. Somewhere in there, the technology crossed a threshold:
it no longer felt like autocomplete
It felt like a collaborator.
Something that could contribute ideas of its own, and even push back on mine.
But what really got me was the intimation of where all this was going. This wasn't just a useful tool we'd bolt onto our systems.
This was a technology that would become part of their foundation — and transform our field.
My first reaction was fear.
How much of what I knew still counted?
How much would change, and how fast?
Where would I fit?
It was disorienting — deeply held assumptions were suddenly in doubt. And underneath it all sat a single belief:
the future was a current steered by someone else, and would happen to me, not with me.
But what was I actually afraid of?
Not the technology itself. The unknown — all those questions I had no answers to.
And those questions had no answers because the answers didn't exist yet. This future wasn't sitting somewhere, already decided. It was going to be decided by the people who went deep enough to build with it —
and nothing stopped me from becoming one of them.
My first instinct was to look for a course that could teach me to build with the agentic layer at the core of the system. I wanted foundations — the kind that hold while everything above them comes and goes.
What I found instead:
All of it lived in the part that comes and goes.
The course I was looking for didn't exist.
So I decided to build it myself.
Building it meant getting my own answers. It meant going down to the foundations and working my way up — creating the system piece by piece. What I ended up with was a course I'd lived before I ever taught it.
That course is AIONSEC.
Yes, it teaches the technology, the engineering, the fundamentals. But more than that, it carries the shift I went through and now want to share:
from a future we feared
to one we're building.
